This proposal in Copenhagen was phenomenal, and I'm so glad to share Elijah and Eliza's story.
Elijah reached out while planning his late September holiday in Copenhagen. He wanted to surprise his girlfriend with a proposal during their trip, and from our first conversation, I could tell this was going to be special. The guy was already shining with love and passion for his girlfriend—it's always such a joy to help make these moments happen in front of the camera.
We discussed a few locations around Copenhagen before settling on the Marble Bridge as our final choice. It's a stunning spot with elegant architecture and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for an intimate proposal in Copenhagen.
But the day had something different in store for us.

WHEN PLANS CHANGE: PROPOSING IN COPENHAGEN
On that particular day, the Marble Bridge was closed for some kind of major event. Honestly, this is incredibly rare—in my five years living in Copenhagen, I've never seen it happen, especially not when someone has a big personal moment planned.
We had to improvise quickly. The couple was already out exploring the city and not far from Nyhavn, so we made the call: Nyhavn it is.
Here's what's brilliant about proposing in the middle of the session - you have flexibility. Elijah wanted to propose during a couples photoshoot rather than having me hide and lurk for the moment to happen. This approach gives you more control over the environment. If it's too busy, we can move to plan B. If the light isn't right, we adjust.
We started with a few photos on the Nyhavn bridge before heading to his ideal spot in front of the colourful houses. The timing was perfect—not many people passing by, just the two of them in one of Copenhagen's most iconic locations.
And Eliza's reaction? She didn't expect it at all. You can see it clearly in the photos—pure surprise, joy, complete shock. After an enthusiastic "yes," we continued our photowalk through more Copenhagen landmarks: Amalienborg Palace and Gardens, and eventually back to Marmorkirken (the Marble Church).
We ended at a restaurant where the couple had a champagne toast. That's where I left them to soak in their new status as an engaged couple and enjoy the rest of their Copenhagen trip. Such a joy to remember.

After the proposal, Elijah shared this advice:
"My biggest tip is just to make sure the marble bridge isn't gated off when you plan to propose there!! Haha in all seriousness, just have a backup plan in case a surprise engagement goes sideways in a place you're unfamiliar with!"
He's absolutely right. When you're proposing in Copenhagen—or any city you're not familiar with—having a backup location and a photographer who knows the area can save the day.
