Engagement at the Kronborg Castle, Denmark

An engagement at Kronborg Castle was the perfect way for Melissa and Frank to celebrate their new chapter together during their trip to Denmark. When Frank first reached out to me, he was planning to propose to Melissa while they were visiting from the USA, but as it turned out, he simply could not wait quite that long.

He ended up proposing before their trip, so by the time we met at Kronborg Castle, they were already engaged and could enjoy their time in Denmark without any secret plans to worry about. I suppose some surprises are simply too exciting to keep!

I really love meeting couples who have found each other later in life and are still so full of love and excitement about what comes next. I always enjoy hearing how people met, where life took them before finding each other and what made them decide that this was the person they wanted to share the next chapter with. Melissa and Frank were clearly very happy to be starting this new part of their lives together, and I was so pleased to be invited to capture a small part of it.

We met on a rather gloomy Sunday afternoon, with occasional rain following us around Kronborg Castle. I think the weather had scared most of the tourists away, as the castle and its surroundings were surprisingly quiet that day, which suited us perfectly. A quieter castle, a little rain and two newly engaged people who were far more interested in each other than the weather made for a lovely afternoon to photograph.

We wandered around the castle and took our time with the photos before continuing towards the shore, where Kronborg stood behind them and the sea stretched out in front of us.

Melissa and Frank had also brought a bottle of champagne with them, so naturally, we had to finish the afternoon with a small toast to their new life together.

I was so happy to be part of this little celebration and to capture a few memories from such a special time in their lives. Thank you, Frank, for inviting me to be a small piece of your story. It was such a pleasure to meet you both, hear how your engagement came about and spend a rainy Sunday afternoon celebrating with you!
