Covid Elopement in Copenhagen City Hall / Claudia + Christian
A Copenhagen elopement during the pandemic might not have been the original plan—but for some couples, it turned out to be exactly what they needed. With restrictions on travel and gatherings, many chose to skip the big party and focus on something smaller, more personal, and just as meaningful.
I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure if a COVID-era wedding at Copenhagen City Hall belonged in my gallery. But over time, I’ve come to see these elopements as part of something bigger. They mark a moment in history and reflect the strength and flexibility couples showed in uncertain times.
Claudia and Christian, a Spanish-Danish couple, decided not to wait. They had a simple, beautiful ceremony at City Hall with just under 12 close family members. It was quiet, emotional, and full of love—the kind of energy that’s impossible to fake.
After the ceremony, we walked through their neighbourhood in Vesterbro. Claudia and Christian laughed, danced, and just enjoyed the moment. That joy came through in every photo—relaxed, unposed, and true to who they are.
These are the weddings I love photographing. The ones where you can feel the connection, even in the smallest moments.
