Where to Propose in Copenhagen for a More Intimate Moment?
One of the things I really enjoy about being a Copenhagen proposal photographer is discovering new locations and helping couples find a place that feels right for them.
I love updating my recommendations as I come across new spots around the city, especially those that might not be the first places youโd think of when planning a proposal in Copenhagen.
And whilst Copenhagen has plenty of beautiful and well-known proposal spots, I know that some couples would much rather find a quiet corner where they can enjoy the moment without too many people around.
Thatโs exactly why I wanted to share these five locations.
A little heads-up: These places donโt necessarily have the most recognisable Copenhagen backgrounds. You wonโt always have colourful Nyhavn buildings or famous landmarks behind you. However, if youโre hoping for somewhere a little more intimate, I think theyโre lovely alternatives. Depending on the time of day and season, thereโs a good chance youโll be able to find a quiet corner to yourselves.
Iโve also included Google Maps links to specific areas I personally like, so you have a starting point when planning your proposal.

Haveselskabets Have (Frederiksberg)
If you love greenery and would prefer somewhere that feels a little tucked away, Haveselskabets Have is one of my favourite gardens to consider.
Located in Frederiksberg, this garden has several lovely corners that could work beautifully for an intimate engagement proposal.
I particularly love the area around the vine arches, especially when everything is green and growing. Another favourite of mine is the small pond near the Chinese gates. Another spot worth considering is the wider open space facing the chalets, especially if youโd prefer a little more room around you.
What I like about Haveselskabets Have is that you have several options within a relatively small area. You can enjoy a walk together and choose a spot that feels right.
๐ BEST SEASON: Spring, Summer & Early Autumn
๐ MY RECOMMENDED PROPOSAL SPOTS:
The small pond near the Chinese gates
The vine arch area
The open space facing the chalets

Eremitagesletten in Jรฆgersborg Dyrehave
For couples who love nature and donโt mind travelling a little outside Copenhagen, Eremitagesletten is a beautiful option.
Iโve previously mentioned Jรฆgersborg Dyrehave in my 5 Romantic Places to Propose in Copenhagen in 2026 but this time I wanted to share a more specific area.
Eremitagesletten is a large, open natural space with beautiful views, peaceful surroundings and, if youโre lucky, deer wandering nearby. I particularly like this location for couples who enjoy being outdoors and would prefer their proposal to feel like part of a relaxed walk together.
Something to consider: This location requires quite a bit of walking, depending on where you enter Dyrehaven. For that reason, it might not be the best choice for everyone, especially if youโre planning to dress up or would prefer somewhere thatโs easy to reach.
๐ BEST SEASON: Spring through Autumn
๐ My Recommended Proposal Spot: Facing the Hermitage Palace (Eremitageslottet)
Rosenhaven in Valbyparken (Valby)
If youโre planning a summer proposal in Copenhagen and love flowers, Rosenhaven in Valbyparken is definitely worth considering. Located a little outside central Copenhagen, Valbyparken is a lovely alternative to the cityโs more popular gardens.
I particularly love the rose garden when the flowers are in full bloom, usually around early July. The colours, greenery and atmosphere make it one of my favourite settings for a romantic outdoor proposal. However, I also really like this area in autumn, especially around October, when the park takes on a completely different appearance.
And whilst Rosenhaven would be my first choice during the rose season, there are a few other spots nearby that I think are worth considering. The main tree-lined avenue is a beautiful alternative, particularly if you like natural symmetry in your photographs. Thereโs also a little pond and an area overlooking the harbour, which could work well if youโd prefer something different from a traditional garden proposal.
๐ BEST SEASON: Early July for roses in bloom & October for autumn colours

Anlรธbet (Copenhagen Harbour)
For something a little different from Copenhagenโs historic gardens and colourful streets, I would consider Anlรธbet. This waterfront area has a more modern atmosphere, with contemporary architecture, open harbour views and interesting lines that work beautifully in photographs.
I particularly like this location for couples who appreciate modern architecture and would prefer a more urban setting for their engagement.
It feels quite different from the traditional Copenhagen proposal locations you might have seen online.
If you like this type of setting, another area worth considering is Nordhavn, which offers similar views of Copenhagenโs modern architecture and waterfront.
๐ BEST SEASON: all year round
๐ My Recommended Proposal Spot: Anlรธbet waterfront
Old University Library, Fiolstrรฆde
Not every Copenhagen proposal needs to happen outdoors!
If youโre looking for an indoor proposal location, particularly during the colder months, the Old University Library on Fiolstrรฆde is a beautiful alternative.
I love the historic atmosphere of this place. The architecture, bookshelves and warm interior make it feel completely different from the cityโs gardens and waterfront locations.
Itโs also one of the few locations on this list that works throughout the year, regardless of the weather.
๐ BEST SEASON: Year-round
๐ Location: Old University Library, Fiolstrรฆde
๐ต Entrance fee: 75 DKK in 2026.
โฐ Opening hours: Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
I hope these suggestions help you discover a few places you might not have considered before.
I genuinely enjoy finding new locations around Copenhagen and sharing them with couples who are planning their engagement here. And whilst these spots might not offer the most recognisable Copenhagen backdrops, I think they can be wonderful choices if youโre hoping for something quieter and more personal.
Of course, the time of day, season and weather will always play a part, so I would recommend keeping a little flexibility in your plans.
And if none of these locations feels quite right, donโt worry. There are plenty of other beautiful places around Copenhagen to consider! :)
