Summer is one of the most beautiful times of the year for wedding celebrations in Copenhagen City Hall. However, you may experience a little longer waiting times compared to other seasons.
Getting married in Copenhagen as a foreigner
Caroline and Terrence reached out to me in early spring as they were in the early stages of planning their summer wedding in Copenhagen. While they were still waiting to submit their documents and receive their appointment dates (keep in mind that you can only apply four months in advance), they wanted to secure photography services in advance.
They wanted some couple photos outside the City Hall and perhaps some cool urban shots in the streets, nothing too fancy or specific. They were planning to invite a bunch of their best friends and continue their celebration somewhere in the city. How exciting! I was thrilled to hear that they were including their best friends, even though organizing for 20+ friends can be quite the task at the end of the day.
After our online video discussion, we settled on a 1-hour to 1.5-hour photo package that would cover everything: the early arrival of guests, the wedding ceremony, and a few casual portraits afterward. Knowing the number of guests they were planning to have, I advised keeping it super simple. Instead of going to a nearby park or the streets, I suggested using the Copenhagen City Hall gardens, which is a perfect place if your wedding party is on the larger side.
Their celebration, as you'll witness in this preview gallery, overflowed with laughter and unforgettable moments. We stuck to the itinerary we planned during our online chat, but the real highlight was the surprise their friends had in store — a shower of rose petals for the couple after their grand exit from the city hall.
