Spring Wedding in Store Heddinge City Hall

Melanie & Mo’s wedding in Store Heddinge Town Hall came together in just two weeks—proof that a beautiful elopement doesn’t need months of planning. With no elaborate itinerary in mind, they simply wanted a meaningful, intimate day, just the two of them. After discussing ideas, we decided to combine the raw, natural beauty of Stevns with the charm of Copenhagen’s historic streets, creating the perfect mix of nature and cityscape for their wedding photos.

    M + M Wedding Day in Stevns

Since they were staying in Copenhagen, we took a sustainable approach and shared a ride to Stevns using GreenMobility, a popular car-sharing service in Denmark. The drive took about an hour, giving us time to chat and ease into the day. The weather was typical for early spring—sunny but with a crisp wind—but M + M’s excitement made up for the chill!

Our first stop was Store Heddinge Town Hall, where they had a simple and heartfelt civil ceremony. From there, we continued to Højerup Old Church in Stevns Klint, the most popular spot for wedding portraits in the area. This 13th-century church, perched dramatically on the edge of the cliffs, partially collapsed into the sea in 1928 due to erosion—now it stands as a stunning historical landmark with breathtaking Baltic Sea views.

Wanting to make the most of their time in Denmark, M + M were open to exploring beyond Stevns, so we added a stop at Faxe Kalkbrud, one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in the country. The bright white limestone quarry, with its turquoise lakes, provided a striking contrast to the rugged cliffs of Stevns, giving them a diverse collection of wedding portraits.

Despite the colder temperatures in Stevns compared to Copenhagen, we made the most of our time outdoors, prioritizing the must-see locations before heading back to the city. Our final stop was Nyhavn, one of Copenhagen’s most iconic spots. Parking in the area can be tricky, so we opted for Kongens Nytorv’s underground parking and walked from there. After capturing their last set of portraits along the colorful waterfront, I left them to soak in the lively atmosphere of the city and enjoy the rest of their wedding day.

Below are some of my favorite moments from M + M’s beautiful wedding day at Store Heddinge Town Hall.
