Walevska and Aaron opted for an elopement at the Royal Opera and welcomed their guests to virtually join them
Copenhagen Elopement: W + A’ s Story
The wedding at the Royal Opera House for Walevska and Aaron, a South American-Irish couple, was a long-awaited event. Their marriage plans had been significantly delayed due to the pandemic, so they were thrilled to finally secure a spot at this open-air venue. While they didn't have extravagant expectations, having visual memories to share with their families abroad was paramount for them. Copenhagen served as a mini-honeymoon, with their loved ones joining them digitally during the ceremony.

On their wedding day, we kicked things off with a photowalk in Nyhavn, the iconic district known for its picturesque canals and colorful buildings. Since their ceremony was scheduled for late afternoon, Nyhavn was bustling with tourists and locals (yet another typical Saturday :)). After capturing a few shots, we made our way to the Royal Opera House. Opting for a quick ferry ride instead of walking across the bridge turned out to be a smart move, especially since the couple needed to set up their laptop for their families and relatives to join remotely. In just about 7 minutes, we arrived at the opera house, where the officiants were eagerly awaiting our arrival.
The ceremony at the Royal Opera was held outdoors due to the favourable weather conditions. Digital guests were able to see a beautiful skyline from the Royal Opera, including the iconic Marble Church Following the brief 5-minute ceremony, I took a few more portraits of the couple in the surrounding area before bidding farewell.
