Stevns Lighthouse (Stevns Fyr) Wedding / Veranika & Kai

Stevns Lighthouse (Fyr) wedding on a calm Friday afternoon — sea views, a spiral staircase, champagne inside the lighthouse, and a small group of friends around them. Not many couples can say they got married on top of a lighthouse. Veronika and Kai did. The full story and photos from the day are below.

    Wedding at Stevns Fyr

Veronika and Kai's Stevns Fyr wedding took place on a warm Friday early afternoon, with just their closest friends around them. The couple chose Stevns Lighthouse as their ceremony location with the help of a wedding planner from Wedding in Denmark who took care of the arrangements from start to finish.

It is one of those locations that feels genuinely special the moment you arrive — perched on the Stevns Klint coastline, with open views over the sea, the surrounding commune, and a lot of green stretching out in every direction.

    About Stevns Fyr

Stevns Fyr (Stevns Lighthouse) sits on the Stevns Klint cliffs in eastern Zealand, around an hour's drive south of Copenhagen. The cliffs themselves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for their dramatic white chalk faces dropping into the Baltic Sea. The lighthouse dates back to 1877 and is one of the most recognisable landmarks on the Zealand coastline. As a wedding location it is wild, open, and genuinely unlike anything you will find closer to the city.

What to Expect at a Stevns Lighthouse Wedding

Getting to the ceremony means climbing a narrow spiral staircase to the top of the lighthouse — there is no lift, so it is worth keeping in mind if any of your guests have limited mobility. The space at the top is also fairly compact, which makes it best suited to small, intimate wedding parties. For the right group, though, that closeness only adds to the atmosphere.

The views from the top are genuinely hard to describe. Sea in one direction, the Stevns commune and rolling green in the other. On a good day it is something else entirely.

Worth knowing is that wind can occasionally move the ceremony indoors — on particularly blustery days, the exchange of vows happens next to the lighthouse (or the nearby house) rather than at the top. Veronika and Kai were lucky. Their Friday was calm and still, the ceremony stayed outside, and the whole thing unfolded exactly as you would hope.

Afterwards, welcome champagne was served inside the lighthouse, arranged by their wedding planner Sara — a really nice touch that gave everyone a moment to breathe and take it all in. The couple took polaroid photos with their guests, shared a piece of cake, and then headed outside for group shots. Sara's decorations throughout were thoughtful and personal, the kind that make a space feel like it was put together with care rather than just ticked off a checklist. If you would rather hand the planning over to someone who knows this venue well, you can read more about her wedding services here. V + K’s wedding story is down below.
