Wedding in Frederiksberg
Karina and Sebastian made quite the journey for their wedding in Frederiksberg. Karina is originally from the Philippines, Sebastian from Guatemala, and the two of them are now based in Germany. They came over specifically for a small, intimate ceremony with no relative or friends. Just the two of them and exactly the day they wanted.
We started at 1 Hotel Copenhagen. Karina was finishing her make-up herself, Sebastian was waiting outside with the flowers he had just gone to pick up. Simple, sweet, unhurried. Then came the first look, and the tears came with it. Sebastian could not hold them back, and honestly I did not want him to. Karina was beaming. Those few minutes inside the hotel’s lobby set the tone for the whole day.
Good to Know: Frederiksberg Town Hall is a beautiful setting for an intimate civil wedding. The warm interior tones, think oranges and greens, make it particularly well-suited to autumn and winter celebrations. It is also wonderfully warm inside, which is no small thing during a Danish February.
How Their Frederiksberg Wedding Day Looked
From the hotel we made our way to Frederiksberg Town Hall for the ceremony. It was short and sweet in the best possible way, with just enough time to feel the weight of the moment without it feeling drawn out. The couple had also brought along a video camera to film it themselves, which I thought was a really lovely touch. There is something about having your own footage of a moment like that, something unpolished and personal, that no professional recording can quite replicate.
We kept the rest of the session indoors since February in Frederiksberg is still properly cold, and the town hall interior is warm, characterful and full of those beautiful orange and green tones that make every frame feel considered. To top it all off, Karina and Sebastian had chosen to have the whole day photographed on film. Every image in this gallery is analogue, and I think it suits both the couple and the venue perfectly.
