Aarhus Photo Spots: The Best Instagrammable Places in Aarhus
Planning a photowalk or looking for the best Aarhus photo spots for your wedding day? You're in the right place. As an Aarhus wedding photographer, I've scouted these locations across many shoots and I'm happy to share what I've found — whether you're after somewhere romantic, colourful, or just quietly beautiful.
If you've already had a look at my guides to Odense photo spots and Copenhagen photo spots, you'll know the format: practical addresses, honest tips, and what each place is actually like through a lens.

Classic Aarhus Photo Spots
Central, varied, and reliably beautiful — these are the Aarhus photo spots I find myself returning to most often, both for weddings and casual photowalks.
Aarhus Botanical Gardens (Botanisk Have)
One of the most versatile Aarhus photo spots — and completely free. The outdoor grounds give you lawns, a stream, and woodland paths, while the Greenhouses take you through four climate zones. The tropical dome in particular has a gorgeous, lush canopy light that works beautifully on overcast days.
One practical note: tripods and professional equipment require prior permission for the museum. If you're coming as a couple for personal photographs with a photographer, do check with the staff on arrival. The greenhouse café is a nice spot for a warm drink before or after, too (check their opening hours).
Address: Peter Holms Vej, 8000 Aarhus C
Tivoli Friheden
Not an obvious Aarhus photo spot, but hear me out. The parkland surrounding the rides — particularly the Swan Lake area and the gardens during the summer Flower Festival (usually 1 July–11 August) — is genuinely charming. The December Christmas lighting is also worth a visit if you're around in winter.
For professional shoots, contact the park in advance as they have specific rules around photography.
Address: Skovbrynet 5, 8000 Aarhus C
Cost: Entrance from approximately 180 DKK for adults (as of 2026); children under 110 cm often enter free. Rides require a separate wristband or pay-per-ride.
Opening season: Generally April to December, including special Halloween and Christmas events.
Marselisborg Slot (Marselisborg Palace)
One of my favourite Aarhus photo spots for wedding portraits. The palace is the Danish royal family's summer residence — the building itself isn't open to the public, but the gardens are whenever the royals aren't in residence.
You get manicured lawns, a rose garden, ponds, sculptures, and views over Aarhus Bay. The rose garden peaks from late June into July. The garden closes roughly a week either side of a royal visit, so check the calendar before you go.
Opening hours: 1 Apr–30 Sep 8am–9pm / 1 Oct–31 Mar 9am–4pm. Garden may be closed when the royal family is visiting — check the royal calendar.
Address: Kongevejen 100, 8000 Aarhus C
Aarhus Old Town — Møllestien, Mølleparken & the Canal
Three spots in one walkable area — and together they make for one of the best Aarhus photo spot combinations in the city centre.
Møllestien is the most-photographed street in Aarhus: a narrow cobblestone lane of small, pastel-coloured 19th-century houses with hollyhocks climbing the walls in summer. Come early in the morning for the best light and fewest people. At blue hour it's equally lovely.
Mølleparken is the green park just nearby — good for more open, natural portraits with mature trees and breathing room.
Åboulevarden (the canal) runs through the city centre with café terraces, low bridges, and lovely water reflections. A more urban, lively feel — great for relaxed lifestyle shots.
Møllestien address: Møllestien, 8000 Aarhus C(runs between Vester Allé and Grønnegade)
Mølleparken address: Mølleparken, 8000 Aarhus C
Canal/Åboulevarden address: Åboulevarden, 8000 Aarhus C
Aarhus Havnefronten (Harbour Front)
The harbour is one of the most photogenic Aarhus photo spots if you're drawn to modern architecture and waterfront light. The old container port has been completely reimagined, and walking along the promenade between Dokk1 and the old Customs House (Toldboden) gives you a great mix of historic and contemporary backdrops.
From the harbour, it's a short walk or bus ride to Aarhus Ø and The Iceberg (Isbjerget) — a residential building with a striking jagged white facade designed to mimic floating icebergs. The golden hour light here is something special in summer.
Havnefronten/Dokk1 address: Hack Kampmanns Plads 2, 8000 Aarhus C
The Iceberg (Isbjerget) address: Mariane Thomsens Gade, 8000 Aarhus Ø
Honourable Mentions
These spots didn't quite make the main list, but they're absolutely worth knowing about — depending on what you're after.
ARoS Art Museum
The rainbow-coloured rooftop walkway Your Rainbow Panorama is one of the most instantly recognisable instagrammable places in Aarhus. Entry required.
Cost: Adults approx. 190 DKK (cheaper if you’re under 31), under-18s free.
Opening hours: Tue–Sun 10am–5pm, Wed until 10pm.
Address: Aros Allé 2, 8000 Aarhus C
ARoS Art Museum
Free 360-degree views of Aarhus from the top of the Salling department store. A rooftop garden, café, wine bar, and glass Skywalk 27 metres above Strøget. One of the most-visited instagrammable places in Aarhus — and it costs nothing.
Opening hours: Mon–Fri 10am–8pm, Sat–Sun 10am–6pm.
Address: Søndergade 27, 8000 Aarhus C
Aarhus Street Food
Good for atmosphere and candid, lifestyle-style shots. Colourful, busy, and full of character.
Opening hours: 11.30 - 9pm
Address: Ny Banegårdsgade 46, 8000 Aarhus
Aarhus City Hall
Underrated as a photo spot. The clean modernist architecture by Arne Jacobsen and Erik Møller photographs really well, and it's right next to Salling, so easy to combine.
