    Wedding Lunch Options in Copenhagen

Getting married at Copenhagen City Hall and looking for a place to have lunch afterwards? Many couples prefer to celebrate right away instead of waiting until the evening.

After years of photographing weddings in Copenhagen, I’ve gathered a selection of restaurants recommended by my couples. They’re all within walking distance of City Hall, open from midday, and work well for small groups of around 15 people.

I've written before about Restaurants for a wedding dinner in Copenhagen, but this guide is all about relaxed, convenient lunch spots for after the ceremony. Please note, booking in advance is highly recommended.

    Vækst

Tucked into Copenhagen's Latin Quarter next to Hotel SP34, Vækst feels like stepping into a greenhouse — plants everywhere, glass panels, and soft natural light that makes everything feel a bit like a long Danish summer afternoon. The restaurant has a private dining room for up to 30 guests, and is open from midday, so it works well for a post-ceremony lunch. Set menu lunch menu is around 400 DKK (excl. drinks).

Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 12:00–23:00 (lunch service ends around 14:30 — confirm when booking)
Address: Sankt Peders Stræde 34, 1453 Copenhagen K

    Norrlyst i Tårnet (in Christiansborg)

Norrlyst i Tårnet sits inside the tower at Christiansborg Palace, where the Danish Parliament once gathered. The kitchen focuses on classic Danish cuisine — solid smørrebrød for lunch, with a seasonal accent. Kulturkvarteret It's genuinely one of the most unusual places you can have a wedding lunch in the city: you're eating inside a working government building with views across Copenhagen's rooftops. Set menu prices start from DKK 495 DKK.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 11:30, closed on Mondays. Sunday from 11:30 to 17:30.
Address: Christiansborg Slotsplads, 1218 Copenhagen K

    Maven

Maven is inside the old Nikolaj Church, right in the heart of the city. The atmosphere is cosy and relaxed, and the lunch menu leans into Danish and Nordic traditions — open sandwiches and seafood, made from local seasonal ingredients. Prices typically run from around DKK 130 to DKK 320 per person. The church setting gives it a warmth and character that you don't easily find in purpose-built restaurant spaces, and there are rooms upstairs available for private hire.

Opening hours: Monday to Thursday from 11:30 to midnight; Friday and Saturday from 11:30 to 2:00am; closed Sundays.
    Address: Nikolaj Plads 10, 1067 Copenhagen K

    Selma

Selma holds a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin Guide — which means good food at a good price. At lunch, the focus is on smørrebrød with homemade rye and sourdough bases that take a modern approach without abandoning what makes the tradition worth keeping. It's the only smørrebrød restaurant in Copenhagen to hold a Bib Gourmand, and has been named the best lunch in the city. You can order à la carte, or go for a curated tasting menu of five or seven pieces — a nice option for a group that doesn't want to overthink it.

Opening hours: Monday and Tuesday from 11:30 to 17:00; Wednesday to Saturday from 11:30, with evening service continuing until midnight; Sunday from 11:30 to 17:00.
    Address: Rømersgade 20, 1362 Copenhagen K

    Venner

Venner has a private cellar space that can be hired for everything from intimate lunches to weddings and birthday celebrations, shielded from noise and other guests. The two chef-owners met in the kitchen at Kadeau and opened Venner together — their background shows in the food, which is Nordic-influenced with nods to their English and Canadian roots. Everything on the menu is made in-house and organic. The vibe is genuinely warm and unpretentious, which several of my couples have commented on after visiting. Private events at Venner can accommodate between 20 and 70 guests.

Opening hours: Monday to Wednesday closed; Thursday to Sunday 10:00 to 16:00
    Address: Teglgårdstræde 13, 1452 Copenhagen K

    Kilden i Haven (inside Tivoli)

Kilden i Haven is head chef Christian Hoffmann's vision of a seasonal Danish brasserie — KILDEN meaning "source" in Danish. At lunch, you can sit surrounded by the kitchen's herb garden and eat their take on classic and modern smørrebrød, with ingredients sourced along the Danish coastline and from local fields. If you book a table for lunch, you can get free entry to Tivoli by showing your reservation at the gate. Tivoli It's a genuinely beautiful setting, and one that tends to surprise couples who haven't been inside Tivoli for a sit-down meal before.

Opening hours: From 12:00 (check their website for current seasonal hours, as Tivoli's opening schedule affects availability)
Address: Vesterbrogade 3 (inside Tivoli Gardens), 1620 Copenhagen

    Theo

Theo is on Skindergade in the heart of Copenhagen, serving contemporary European cuisine drawn from the best of Paris, London, Barcelona, Stockholm and Berlin. The atmosphere is informal and lively and built around the idea that great food doesn't have to feel stiff or ceremonial. For a wedding lunch, that's actually a real plus. At lunch, you can choose the 4-course set menu, and there's also an à la carte menu alongside it. Visit Copenhagen Based on the live menu on Theo's official website, the lunch set menu is DKK 325 per person (food only), with a wine pairing of 3 glasses for DKK 325 extra. For parties, they request the entire group choose from the set menu.

Opening hours: 11:30 am–4 pm (lunch menu); closed on Sundays
    Address: Skindergade 29, 1159 København

Whichever restaurant you choose, I'd strongly recommend getting in touch with them as early as possible — Copenhagen restaurants for groups fill up fast, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Most of these places will ask you to confirm a set menu in advance when you're booking for 10 or more people, so it helps to know your dietary requirements ahead of time.
