Getting Married at Køge Town Hall
When Jacqui and Niall got in touch about their Køge wedding, they needed both a witness and photographer for their early winter ceremony. I was absolutely delighted to help with their Town Hall celebration.
They'd planned an intimate family-only wedding on an early Saturday morning. What actually happened? Well, none of us saw it coming. The day before their flight to Copenhagen, a snowstorm hit. Their flight was delayed, and somewhere in transit, their luggage vanished completely. They landed in Køge late afternoon with just the clothes on their backs, a young child, and another baby on the way.
Imagine that for a moment. You're getting married tomorrow morning, and you've literally got nothing but what you're wearing. No wedding outfit, no backup plans, no time to sort it out. Most people would panic. Jacqui and Niall? They just decided to roll with it. Keep it simple and focus on the only thing that actually mattered: becoming husband and wife.

We met in the small courtyard of Køge Town Hall that Saturday morning. Despite everything that had happened, Jacqui and Niall were genuinely relaxed. The officiant invited us through, and the ceremony was beautifully brief: a short address, the exchange of rings, signing the documents.
After the ceremony, we took a few photographs in the courtyard, where I left them to enjoy their remaining time in Køge, with the hope they managed to sort out that luggage situation eventually.

What to Know About Køge Weddings
Køge is located approximately 40 minutes by train from Copenhagen Central Station, which makes it quite convenient if you're staying in the capital. You can easily travel on the morning of your ceremony and return the same day.
The town hall ceremony itself is efficient and intimate, which works perfectly for couples seeking a straightforward civil wedding. The courtyard and surrounding areas provide pleasant backdrops for photographs, though naturally the options are more limited compared to larger venues. If you have extra time, the medieval streets and harbour area nearby offer additional photo opportunities.
This gallery offers insight into what you can expect from a Køge Town Hall wedding, particularly for small, uncomplicated ceremonies.
Congratulations to Jacqui and Niall on their marriage. The way they handled such unexpected circumstances really was something special.
