Indian Wedding In Copenhagen City Hall
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing numerous Indian weddings at Copenhagen City Hall, often when one partner is Indian and the other from a different country. This particular wedding had that familiar blend of cultures, but it stood out in a special way. Unlike any other Indian wedding I’ve shot in Denmark, this one came with a surprise twist.
Monica contacted me because she wanted to give her future husband a gift: a surprise photoshoot on their wedding day. He had no idea that a photographer would be there to capture their special moments.
Their wedding was scheduled for early spring. After discussing their needs, I suggested a one-hour photography package. This package would cover the anticipation and excitement before the ceremony, the ceremony itself, and a series of portraits of the newlyweds afterwards. The reasoning? Spring weddings can be unpredictable with the weather and, for this reason, I always recommend making the most of our time without overextending ourselves outdoors.
So, how did Monica and Gerard’s wedding at Copenhagen City Hall looked like?
Indian wedding Ceremony in Copenhagen City Hall
On the day of the wedding, I arrived at Copenhagen City Hall early to patiently await the arrival of Monica and Gerard, as well as their guests. The Town Hall was surprisingly quiet that day — a mixed feeling of relief for the peacefulness but also a challenge as there was no hiding spot for me! :) Spotting the couple was so easy: Monica looked stunning in her traditional Indian saree and elegant wedding bouquet, while Gerard was dressed in the usual wedding suit. I discreetly captured Gerard’s reaction to Monica’s surprise wedding photoshoot gift from a distance. Shortly after, the guests began to arrive and we were soon escorted to the ceremony room where the heartfelt service took place.
Wedding Photoshoot & Flower Toss in Copenhagen City Hall
Following the brief but heartfelt ceremony and warm greetings from both virtual and in-person guests, I suggested to Monica and Gerard that we capture some natural and relaxed wedding photography inside Copenhagen City Hall. Their easygoing and free-spirited energy made it effortless to achieve the natural look they desired. Monica, with her creative background, also expressed interest in capturing some artistic portraits, and we had fun experimenting with her beautiful saree, the sole Indian element during their Copenhagen wedding. Our time together culminated in a joyful moment when Gerard's sister caught the tossed bouquet.
Congratulations, M + G!
