Getting Married in Copenhagen
Ailbhe and John's Copenhagen wedding was the kind that reminds me why I love what I do. After more than 20 years of knowing each other, this international couple travelled from Ireland to tie the knot in Copenhagen during winter. They were honest from the start—they'd never been in front of a camera before and weren't keen on a long, posy photoshoot. So they opted for my 1-hour photo package, which is actually quite popular for winter weddings in Copenhagen when daylight is limited and couples want to keep things relaxed.
Their ceremony took place at Copenhagen City Hall, and I have to say, winter weddings here are actually one of my favourite times of year to photograph. That said, the ground floor wasn't fully open for photos that day because they were setting up for an upcoming event (happens fairly often during the busy December wedding season). But here's the thing about getting married in Copenhagen: there are always beautiful spots to work with, and we made it work beautifully.
After the ceremony, we made the most of Copenhagen City Hall's accessible areas before stepping out into the crisp winter streets. Ailbhe and John had one request: orange. Their favourite colour, and they wanted it in their photos. Copenhagen? Absolutely the right city for that. We found a gorgeous orange building that was so perfectly Copenhagen it could've been on a postcard.
They'd also gone for the Polaroid add-on—always a good choice. Instant photos on your wedding day just hit differently.
But honestly, what made this whole shoot work so well was them. Camera-shy? Maybe on paper. In reality? They were brilliant. Natural, relaxed, completely themselves. And that's the secret, really. When you stop worrying about "doing it right" and just enjoy the moment, that's when the magic happens.
If you're planning a wedding in Copenhagen and feeling a bit camera-shy, know that you're not alone—and that shorter, relaxed photo sessions can be just as meaningful as longer ones. It's about capturing your story, not staging a performance.

I regularly photograph weddings at Copenhagen City Hall and have plenty of experience navigating the space, even during the busy seasons. If you're considering getting married in Denmark and want to know more about what to expect, feel free to get in touch.
