Nadav & Uri decided to elope at Copenhagen City Hall during Copenhagen Pride Week due to the legal restrictions on same-sex marriage in their home country (Israel)
Eloping as a Queer in Copenhagen
I'm thrilled to be living in Denmark, where queer couples can legally marry, even if they're tourists! Unfortunately, this isn't the reality in many other parts of the world, like Israel. Nadav and Uri, Israeli same-sex couple travelled all the way from Israel not to only celebrate World Pride Week but also to tie the not in Copenhagen City Hall Garden.
Nadav and Uri were keen on capturing only the key moments of their ceremony in Denmark, so we opted to stay within the confines of the City Hall Garden and not wander elsewhere. This choice proved to be both beautiful and deeply meaningful. The lush greenery and fluttering colourful flags provided a backdrop that accentuated their lively attire and the chemistry they shared.
As self-described introverts, Nadav and Uri knew that the bustling energy of popular tourist spots like Nyhavn or Tivoli Gardens might not align with their vision during the lively Copenhagen Pride Week festivities. City Hall Garden, therefore, was a fitting choice for them, especially since they were the last couple to get married that day.

So, what can you expect when you choose this open-air wedding venue in Copenhagen? Well, having photographed numerous weddings in Copenhagen City Hall Garden, I can tell you to expect to see quite a few couples eagerly waiting for their appointments. If you're hoping for some privacy for your (private) couple portraits, I'd suggest exploring other iconic spots in Copenhagen. You might have better luck if your ceremony is scheduled for later in the day, just like it was for Nadav and Uri.
This wedding venue is incredibly popular, so if you haven't had a chance to secure your spot for this year, you do have the option to pay extra for a private booking. Otherwise, you can wait until next year when they open up new spots.
Now, it’s time for Nadav and Uri's same-sex couple story in the Garden of Copenhagen City Hall.
