10 Best cafés in Copenhagen
Hart Bageri
Holmen
Galionsvej 41, 1437 København
Open Mon-Sun
Why not try a bread-cheese-coffee breakfast beloved by the Danes and head to Hart Bageri? As a half-sister brand to world-class restaurant Noma, It is safe to say that the bakery provides art in bread form, at an affordable price. From multi-seeds bun and buttery croissants that exceed any crunchy expectations to fresh-out-of-the-oven city loaves that fly off the shelf, Hart is the doughy heaven for couples looking for a casual morning bite. If you’re planning a romantic walk along the canals in Nyhavn and Christianshavn, then head to the Holmen location. If you’re eloping at the Frederiksberg City Hall, good news - there’s a bakery in the neighborhood too.
Lille Bakery
Refshaleøen
Refshalevej 213A, 1432 København
Open Wed-Sun
Nestled in the industrial neighbourhood of Refshaleøen Lille Bakery is a local’s best-kept secret. With its minimalist interior, convivial set-up and farm-to-table menu, Lille Bakery feels like walking into a Scandinavian grandma’s home for brunch. Whether you like your sourdough with eggs, butter, or cheese, paired with a homemade brewed tea or coffee, there are 50 to 90 DKK options for any envy. Biking to brunch no earlier than 12 pm is best, although you can always ditch the bike for a ferry ride from Nyhavn to enjoy the harbour. Refshaleøen is more lively in summer, and we recommend trying out Copenhot for a couple’s sauna-ice-bath session, the Mikkeller brewery for a beer tasting, Copenhill for a unique ski descent or Reffen for some street-food post-brekkie.
