Old City Hall Roskilde Wedding
When D + T contacted me about their Roskilde wedding photographer needs, they were already working with a Danish wedding agency to arrange their intimate celebration. They'd chosen a Saturday morning ceremony at Roskilde's Old City Hall, a decision that would prove absolutely perfect for their vision of a historic, intimate Danish wedding.
My time with this lovely couple started near the Roskilde Town Hall area at Piper Hus, where their family was gathering for the big moment. After meeting D + T and capturing all the essential family photos, we began our photowalk through Roskilde's historic centre towards the Old City Hall. Along the way, we stopped in front of the magnificent Roskilde Domkirke, the UNESCO World Heritage cathedral.
Good to Know: Roskilde holds wedding ceremonies at two locations depending on the day of the week. Ceremonies take place at the modern City Hall on Thursdays at 15:30 and Fridays at 11:30, while Saturday weddings are held at the historic Old City Hall on Stændertorvet at 11:00 (information last checked 2025)
The family was already waiting by the Old City Hall when we arrived, and the ceremony itself was beautifully brief and intimate. Danish law requires at least two witnesses to be present during the ceremony, and it's worth noting that if your ceremony takes place on Thursday or Friday at the main City Hall, witnesses can be provided, but on Saturdays at the Old City Hall, you must bring your own witnesses.
After the beautiful ceremony, I left the couple to enjoy their time with loved ones.
