Proposal at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
When Justin reached out from New York, he had a vision: surprise his girlfriend Brittany with a proposal at the Louisiana Museum during their European adventure. As someone who's photographed many proposals in Copenhagen, I was excited to help him plan the perfect moment at one of Denmark's most iconic locations.
Now, about Louisiana Museum of Modern Art itself. This isn't just any art museum, it's consistently ranked among the best museums in the world, known for its incredible modern art collection and the way it seamlessly blends architecture with nature. What I absolutely love about this place is the surrounding area. The museum sits right on the coast north of Copenhagen, with stunning views over the water toward Sweden. The coastal paths and green spaces create this perfect mix of art, nature and tranquility.
Getting there is incredibly easy too — no car needed! Just hop on a regional train heading toward Helsingør from Copenhagen Central Station, and you'll be there in about 35 minutes. The museum is a 15 minute walk from Humlebæk station.
For Justin's proposal, I suggested a quiet corner of the museum grounds, outside the main building. This spot is less crowded than the indoor galleries and offers those stunning nature views of the coastline and surrounding landscape. You can hear the distant buzz of Louisiana Museum's café and happy laughter in the area, but it still feels private and intimate. It's such a great way to cap off your museum exploration, and the natural beauty makes for incredible photos.
Good to know. If you're hiring a photographer for a Louisiana Museum proposal, here's my advice: plan the proposal AFTER your museum visit. This way, it looks far less suspicious / rushed. Trust me on this one!
Brittany didn't expect this surprise at all. During our engagement session afterward, Justin shared that they'd been on a massive Europe trip, and Louisiana Museum was their very last location before heading all the way back to New York City. He'd kept the engagement ring hidden throughout their entire journey! Brittany was completely in awe when she realised he'd been carrying it the whole time. High five, Justin, that's some serious commitment to the surprise!
After the proposal (and happy tears, of course), we had a brief photo walk through the beautiful coastal area around the museum. Once we captured those special moments, I quietly stepped back and left the newly engaged couple to soak it all in.
Huge congrats to Justin and Brittany!
