Wedding at Ofelia Square, Copenhagen
An Ofelia Square wedding in Copenhagen is perfect for couples looking for a relaxed ceremony by the water. Jade and Mark, originally from the UK and now happily settled in Copenhagen, celebrated their wedding on an early March afternoon. Although the weather was cold and windy, the day felt warm in all the ways that mattered, filled with laughter, family, and genuine happiness.
We began with a photo walk through Nyhavn, Copenhagen’s most photographed neighbourhood. The colourful houses, historic wooden ships, and fairly quiet afternoon atmosphere made the perfect backdrop before the ceremony.
Afterwards, we met their family and friends at Ofelia Plads, where we took group photographs overlooking the harbour.
The Ofelia Plads wedding ceremony was originally expected to take place outdoors, but the strong wind and cool weather meant it was held inside instead. That is one of the advantages of getting married here outside the summer months. The location can easily adapt to the conditions while still keeping the ceremony intimate and enjoyable.
The ceremony itself was short, heartfelt, and full of genuine emotion. Within a few minutes, Jade and Mark had exchanged their vows, slipped rings onto each other’s fingers, and walked back out to congratulations from the people who had travelled to celebrate with them.
Afterwards, the celebrations continued with a wedding dinner in Sydhavn, the neighbourhood they call home in Copenhagen. It was the perfect ending to the day, allowing everyone to settle in, share good food, and enjoy the evening together without rushing from one place to the next.
Jade and Mark chose 2.5 hours of photography coverage, which worked beautifully for their plans. It gave us time for portraits in Nyhavn, family photographs at Ofelia Plads, the ceremony itself, and the first moments of their celebrations afterwards. For intimate weddings like this, it’s often all that’s needed to tell the story of the day naturally.
