Nestled in Copenhagen, the Maersk Tower proudly affiliated with the University of Copenhagen is a hidden gem, reaching an impressive height of 75 meters. Built in 2017, it might go unnoticed by many tourists, but here's a pro tip – you can actually explore it for free on weekdays (just check their opening hours). Recognised for its commitment to innovation and environmental consciousness, the tower boasts 3,300 stunning copper shutters, setting it apart amidst the traditional Danish houses.
More recently, the Copenhagen municipality opened its doors for wedding ceremonies in this fantastic space. Choosing the Maersk Tower for your wedding is a distinctive choice. This special spot promises a unique experience for couples starting their marital journey. The 15th floor, especially, offers a great spot for an open-air ceremony, treating you to breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

Wedding Photoshoot before the open air ceremony in maersk Tower
Getting married at the Maersk Tower was the choice for Mic + Viv, an American-French couple who traveled across oceans to say their 'I dos.' Preferring an intimate celebration, the couple opted for an open-air ceremony exclusively for themselves. Before the big day, we had a virtual meeting to share ideas and approaches. With a special fondness for cinematic and film-inspired photos, I proposed different routes for a photowalk based on their preferences. Our special session began with a leisurely stroll through the charming streets of Nørrebro (one of the most multicultural neighbourhoods of Copenhagen), setting the stage for the heartfelt ceremony awaiting us in the iconic Maersk Tower.
The Maersk Tower Wedding Ceremony
Shortly after the photowalk to Maersk Tower, we discovered that the open-air ceremony was delayed.This twist turned out to be a blessing, giving us an even greater chance to explore the ground floor of Copenhagen University (Panum Institute). The detour revealed fantastic photo spots, including a few cool Bauhaus elements! The additional "waiting time" flew by in the blink of an eye! When the moment finally arrived, we ascended to the 15th floor for the official ceremony.
Interestingly, despite the open-air wedding being advertised as such, the ceremony took place indoors. It seemed like a wise decision, considering the tricky weather and strong winds that swept through that day. The ceremony was short and sweet, with witnesses from Copenhagen City Hall and virtual guests tuning in through their phones.
After the heartfelt ceremony, I bid farewell to the joyous couple, leaving them to celebrate in a nearby lunch area and sealing their love story within the walls of the Maersk Tower.
