The Garden Wedding Ceremony
Sofie and Nikolai chose to celebrate their Copenhagen garden wedding in a way that perfectly reflected their cross-cultural relationship. With Sofie's Canadian background and Nikolai's Danish roots, they created a celebration that felt authentically them.
Planning a Copenhagen garden wedding is beautifully risky. The kind of choice that could go wonderfully right or leave you scrambling for umbrellas. Luckily, Copenhagen decided to cooperate that day, giving us sunshine and the most positive vibes.
Their friend officiated the ceremony, which made everything feel so personal. Having someone who actually knows your story tell it to your guests creates such a personal atmosphere. All the inside jokes, the real moments, the wisdom that comes from years of friendship. When they exchanged rings, you could feel the genuine joy from everyone there.
The ceremony flowed naturally into congratulations and mingling with no strict schedules or formal lines.

Mini Wedding Photoshoot & Party
After the initial celebrations, Sofie and Nikolai wanted some time together for portraits, so we headed to a nearby park. Fresh from saying "I do," they had that wonderful newlywed energy that makes for the most genuine photos.
One detail that stood out: they brought a brand new knife specifically to open their champagne bottle together. Such a thoughtful touch that felt completely them! The entire session was filled with laughter and spontaneity, capturing exactly who they are as a couple.
Returning to the garden, we found their guests enjoying snacks and light food throughout the space. The celebration had that relaxed, intimate feel that garden settings naturally create. People were actually talking to each other, lingering in conversations, making real connections rather than just going through wedding motions.
I left the couple to enjoy their newly married lives before they set off on their party bus to the next destination.
