Copenhagen City Hall LGBT wedding photography — Georgie and Marie's intimate same-sex ceremony, captured in the heart of the city with just a handful of witnesses and a rainy afternoon that turned into something rather lovely.
LGBT Wedding in Copenhagen City Hall
Georgie and Marie, an American-Danish couple, chose to keep their day small and private. No big gathering, no long guest list — just the two of them, the officiant, two witnesses, and me. It's a setup I have a lot of time for. There's a particular kind of focus you get when a ceremony is that intimate. Every moment lands differently.
Good to Know: Copenhagen City Hall has been a fully inclusive wedding venue since 2012, and roughly one in three weddings held there is a same-sex marriage. All genders and sexual orientations are welcomed, and couples of all nationalities can marry here without being Danish residents — which makes it a popular destination for international couples eloping to Copenhagen.

After the ceremony, the weather made the decision for us. It wasn't the kind of afternoon that calls for wandering around outside, so we stayed in and made the most of the City Hall interiors. Honestly, it works beautifully — the building has real character, and the light inside is warm and flattering in a way that photographs well without much effort.
Georgie and Marie had wonderful chemistry, and that comes through in every frame. The setting did the rest.
Before we wrapped up and sent them off to celebrate, I talked them into one last set of portraits outside with the Copenhagen City Hall facade behind them. A bit of wind, a bit of grey sky, and two people very happy to be married. A good combination.
