Gay wedding in Copenhagen City Hall, Denmark
Gay weddings in Denmark have this particular quality to them — couples fly in from all over the world specifically because Denmark makes it straightforward, welcoming, and genuinely easy. Lukas and James came from Ireland for exactly that reason, and their early June day in Copenhagen was everything a quiet, intentional wedding should be.
The ceremony took place at Copenhagen City Hall, which remains one of the most popular spots for same-sex couples getting married in Denmark. It works well for a reason. The process is clear, the setting is dignified without being stuffy, and for couples who want the focus on each other rather than on logistics, it does the job beautifully.

After the ceremony, we took a slow walk through some of Copenhagen's most quietly beautiful spots. Magstræde first — one of those narrow cobblestone streets that looks like it belongs in another century. Then Marmorbroen, the old marble bridge that sits between Christiansborg and the canal. We finished at the Royal Library Garden, which in early June is properly lush and calm, and makes for some of the most naturally lit photos in the whole city.
What made the day was the pace of it. No rushing or rigid schedule. We talked a lot — about their lives in Ireland, how they met, what brought them to each other. Both studied psychology, and like so many couples today, they found each other through a dating app. Congratulations, Lukas and James. Wishing you both everything good.
