Planning a Cinematic Photoshoot in Copenhagen

Cinematic photoshoot in Copenhagen was the perfect way for Olia and Boris to celebrate their engagement before their wedding in Denmark later this year, with an early morning couple photoshoot in the beautiful streets of Copenhagen’s Old Town.

A few months before the session, I met Olia at a creative meetup, where I discovered that she was a talented graphic designer. We got chatting and I later learned that she and Boris had recently got engaged and were planning to get married in Denmark.

They wanted to take some engagement photos before the wedding, and when we started talking about their ideas, I knew we could create something really special together. They imagined something relaxed and creative, and they were open to trying different things and letting the session unfold naturally.

I suggested an early Saturday morning in Copenhagen. The city is quieter at that time of day, and there is something lovely about having the old streets almost to yourself. It also gave us the soft, calm atmosphere I had in mind for their cinematic photoshoot in Copenhagen.

We started our couple photoshoot in Magstræde, one of my favourite little corners of Copenhagen’s Old Town. From there, we spent about an hour wandering through the surrounding streets and finding beautiful spots along the way.

It was my first time meeting Boris, but the two of them were so natural together that it did not take long for everyone to feel comfortable. I loved their free-spirited energy and the way they moved through the city together. Nothing felt overly posed, which gave us plenty of space to create photographs that felt like them.

We finished our morning with a stop at Sonny, one of Copenhagen’s popular cafés, where we took a few final photographs before saying goodbye. Olia and Boris stayed behind to enjoy breakfast and the sunny morning ahead.

I love sessions like this because they can be whatever you want them to be. A little bit of engagement photography, a little bit of exploring Copenhagen and plenty of time to simply enjoy being together.
