It goes without saying that I consider my city of Copenhagen a special place, since I’ve consciously chosen it to be the setting of both my life and my work as a photographer.
While its infamous picturesque streets and well-balanced, quintessentially Scandinavian design provide perfect backdrops for beautiful compositions and romantic wedding photography, I’ve often found that the buzz of a city can steal a child’s attention from the photographer during a family photo session.
So when it comes to photographing families, I believe that some of the best opportunities for capturing magical moments lie in more natural locations. Parks, greenspaces, beaches, and gardens are idyllic places for family outings, and I love to join in to catch the raw joy they evoke on camera.
I’ve hand-selected the best outdoor locations in and around Copenhagen for a family photoshoot, which all offer opportunities for the whole family to enjoy simple pleasures: nearby stops for coffee or ice cream, scenic spaces to unwind, playgrounds for easy entertainment, and quality time together.
If you’re looking for some inspiration for a family-friendly day trips near lovely Copenhagen, and perhaps a photographer to capture the highlights (maybe me?!), you’ve come to the right place!

Especially in the autumn when the leaves change colour, the rolling plains of Dyrehaven are a remarkable place to get out of the city (one hour and five minutes by train, to be exact) and enjoy some fresh air alongside the deer who call it home.
