What to take into consideration when choosing your stay in Copenhagen?
Location
Think of kind of scenery moves you. For example, maybe instead of staying in the heart of Copenhagen you would much more prefer a residential area and feel more like a local? Maybe you’re up for adventure and would love to try unconventional spaces such as houseboat or the krane? Or maybe Copenhagen is just a 24-hour stop to getting married and you’re going to another destination shortly after? These are all things to carefully consider before booking your accommodation.
Noise level
This is closely linked to location. When staying in the city centre it will be easier to reach top Copenhagen attractions, it may also result in a higher level of noise. Please take in consideration pubs, train stations and the town clock which chimes every 15 minutes. Vesterbro area is quite known for the hustle and bustle. If you enjoy a piece of quietness, this might be a deal breaker.
Guests
Is it just the two of you or you’re also bringing your friends / family? Will they be staying with you or need to find an accommodation by themselves? Some of the listed places may be only to accommodate 5 people in total.
Style
Luxurious or minimalistic, vintage or modern? Choose a space that truly inspires you and fits with your overall theme. Photographers love natural light. Big windows (bonus, if more than one), brightly painted walls, spacious lobby — one more consideration to make if you envision a few portraits done before your wedding ceremony.
Your dream place in copenhagen: Additional considerations before booking
Bar in the lobby or a rooftop to hold a reception party or dinner.
Spa or sauna facilities.
Parking and easy access for all vendors and bridal party.
Pet-friendly places, if you’re thinking of bringing your furry friend together.
Airbnb tip. Try filtering by AirBnB Plus to see the best styled properties.
Final thoughts
Always communicate with the hotel or Airbnb host about your preferences / expectations before booking and any additional costs for the reception party if you’re planning to throw one. Try to see how the place will look in real life (if not physically, IG posts can be a real help) or kindly ask for additional images. Photographs can sometimes be misleading and it would be a bummer if the place is not as you envisioned.
My recommendation? It’s hard to stay unbiased as the local, yet my personal preference would be an accommodation which is not in the city centre (Islands Brygge and East Amager are my fav areas) or ones which can offer something extra — sipping a glass of wine in terrace / rooftop and enjoying the scenery of Copenhagen. Delightful experience.
