Best Wedding Venues in Copenhagen
Restaurante Aure
Let's start with a charming restaurant seemingly plucked out of the 18th century, Restaurant Aure. This converted boat station has been transformed into a cordial dining location, fit for groups looking for an all-in-one. They perfectly mashed rustic decor with modern touches, transporting all who visit to an age of antiquity. It's close to the city center, coming in at only 10 quick minutes from Nyhavn, and holds up to 110 guests. The grounds include a lovely open-air lawn and a second-level area, perfect for the ceremony itself. Getting married here will not only impress your guests with the feeling of home but also wow them with that classic level of sophistication.

Brøndsalen / Paradehuset
Next up is a pair of beautiful greenhouses that will absolutely knock your socks off as soon as you step through their doors. Each offers a unique twist, but both provide tons of natural light through their floor-to-ceiling glass walls. You don't need to have a green thumb to appreciate how exceptional they are and their functional layouts can adapt to most scenarios. Usually, dinner and reception are set up indoors while the main event takes place outside but since everything is close to each other, anything is possible. An ideal location for couples who want to celebrate their love in a botanical paradise. Brøndsalen comfortably seats 120 attendees and Paradehuset around 70.

CPH Cooking Class
If you prefer a simple, pristine, and contemporary venue located in the heart of the city, look no further than CPH Cooking Class. Don't let the name fool you, this wedding location provides everything you need, especially for "foodies" who prioritize the menu above all else. Unlike traditional weddings, this locale offers a hands-on experience where you and your guests can engage in cooking together or let the chefs cater the ultimate menu that'll leave all who indulge speechless. Since the entire venue is focused on creating the best food and drinks imaginable, I guarantee it'll be an experience your tongue will never forget! Unfortunately, it's on the smaller side, seating 40 or up to 100 standing.

Design Museum
If you're looking for a refined and cultured atmosphere, one where art is architecture and architecture is art, look into the Design Museum Danmark. This locale offers a wide variety of options ranging from affectionate galleries to spacious halls. The large banquet room alone holds up to 120 people. The courtyard is like something out of a fairytale and the exclusive access you'll have to the mind-provoking exhibits adds an extra touch, unmatched by many. As a bonus, the museum even comes with a professional event staff that'll make sure everything goes smoothly for you and your guests on your special day. A popular wedding spot for creative and artistic couples who desire a venue that's part of the experience, not just a pinpoint on a map.

Folkets Madhus
Those searching for a country house look and a close-knit experience with friends and family should think about booking at Folkets Madhus. It's a place that emphasizes togetherness and solidarity which makes it a great choice for those who share the same ideals. It all starts with their farm-to-table cuisine sourced from local and seasonal ingredients and continues with communal-style dining that makes you feel right at home. Outside you'll find an industrial look sprinkled with traces of typical farm decor and soothing foliage. It's a country setting in an urban environment and ideal for parties under 100 people.

Kilden I haven / Nimb at Tivoli Gardens
Tivoli Gardens is one of the most iconic spots in all of Copenhagen, full of all sorts of attractions -amusement park rides, concert halls, theaters, gourmet eateries, and of course the stunning landscape. It also has a few amazing wedding venues! Kilden i Haven, a greenhouse-inspired restaurant, and Nimb, a palace of a hotel to name a few. Let's go over them.
First up, Kilden i Haven. This small, yet romantic wedding venue is a green oasis hidden in the middle of a major city. It's best suited for smaller groups who have a sincere appreciation for traditional Danish cuisine. Choose from 1 or more of their 6 available spaces like the luscious garden room, or step it up and rent out the entire restaurant. Ideal for 50-100 guests who love great food and great people.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Hotel Nimb. Talk about excellence. This venue exudes class at the highest level. Take your pick from many of its amenities like drinks on the rooftop pool, a gala dinner inside the "Rotunda Room" or grill at the Balanchine lounge, and dancing inside the HC Anderson or Axelborg Halls. Nothing is too extravagant, nor impossible but all is done in unflinching style. One of the larger capacities on the list coming in at 250 maximum.

KU.BE
KU.BE, otherwise known as the House of Culture and Movement, is one of the more peculiar venues in Denmark I must say. One foot inside and you'll know what I mean. First off, it's full of fun obstacles like the massive silver slide flowing from the 1st floor or the netted vertical maze. How neat! It also doubles as a community hub, hosting festivals, private events, and exhibitions. You'll find tons of colorful and multifunctional spaces within that can adapt to any private function's needs. Smaller rooms are great for 50 guests while the main hall can seat up to 300. A modern, sleek, and kid-friendly venue I highly recommend, and safe to say will keep your guests entertained in more ways than one!

Langelinie Pavillonen
Many engaged couples pick Copenhagen's scenic waters as a backdrop for their big day and few venues take advantage of this better than Langelinie Pavillonen. Centrally placed near the fortress Kastellet, and near the water's edge, this venue is the perfect choice for couples who desire simplicity, elegance, and one amazing view of the harbour. Complete your vows outside and underneath the shining sun or say "I do" indoors with an elevated panoramic view. Either way, the event team will assist you with everything you need, from food, music, watercraft rental, and anything else you can think of. Fits up to 300 guests.
Address: Langelinie 10, 2100∙ More Info
Mikkeller Baghaven
Another seaside location that has equally impressive views, but polar opposite vibes, is the brewery Mikkeller Baghaven. This converted warehouse has maintained its completely industrial and rugged look on the outside while transforming the inside into a casual and mellow taproom. The standout feature? The high ceilings and elevated interior loft as well as the giant windows that flood in natural light. Whether you are looking for a great place for the band or a memorable podium for the speeches, this lifted-level is a nice detail begging to be optimized. Depending on your configurations or wishes, around 250 lucky invitees can enjoy their time inside or out at Mikkeller Baghaven.

Mogens Dahl Koncertsal
One of the most important pieces to the giant wedding reception puzzle is finding a site where both music and conversation can seamlessly meld together. This will be the least of your worries at Mogens Dahl Koncertsal. Their 3 magnificent concert halls are systematically designed for optimal acoustics, no matter the group size filling them. In addition, there's a rooftop lounge splendid for a sunset beverage, and a converted party garage where you can dance the night away. A huge bonus to booking here is their event team will assist you in the planning and execution of everything. No task is too small or insignificant. Invitations, decorations, theme, menu, and of course finding the perfect musical act. A first-rate venue for a first-rate wedding! Great for 150 dinner guests.

Skabelonloftet
For a more eccentric look and feel, check out the revamped shipyard building Skabelonleftet located on the northern tip of Amager Island. The steel beams, old factory windows, and wooden floors preserve the rawness of days gone by but fit well with any non-traditional "bohemian-style" wedding. The exterior twin staircases practically demand use as a natural photo-op and the views of the harbor before, during, and/or after the ceremony bring it all together. Wine lovers will relish coordinating with their staff sommelier and music aficionados can rest easy, taking advantage of their inventory of trustworthy DJs. If you want something out of the norm, Skabelonloftet will not disappoint. Room for up to 200.

Spisehuset
One of, if not the, most low-key spots on the entire list has to be Spisehuset. It's quaint, homey, and very relaxed, all culminating as a great option for those who don't want to make a "big fuss" of it all and like to do most things themselves. Even though they have a small team that can help with some menu requests, this is the place to rent if you want to take charge. So bring a chef, work the kitchen, or order a catering service a la carte style and focus on what the location does offer, a kickback atmosphere! Let the cobblestone streets and artistic neighbourhood set the stage for an intimate gathering best suited for 45 people or less.

Vandværket
Now if you want to go big, and I mean 600 people big, not many places are better set up for hosting a group of that size than Vandværket. It's huge! This former waterworks facility has been changed into a lovely event space while retaining those industrial touches that work so well for big galas. The exposed brick and vaulted ceilings stand out as top features while their wrap-around patio is just big enough for pre or post-ceremony drinks. Don't think "fancy", think "practical". Since they are accustomed to larger than normal groups, their staff is well-prepared to dot every i and cross every t. If all you need is a location and somebody else to do all the heavy lifting, this is your best bet.

Trekroner
This next setting might not be everybody's cup of tea, but if you want something that's guaranteed to leave a memorable impression for weeks on end, consider having your wedding celebration on the old sea fort of Trekroner. For 200 years, right up until WW1, this harbor battery was part of the fortifications of Copenhagen and even served a purpose during WW2. Holding your nuptials here feels like halfway to a destination wedding. The only way to the island stronghold is by boat so it might take more planning than other options, but like they say, "you get what you pay for". History buffs, ocean lovers, or anybody who prefers an unconventional location will find this place irresistible! Plenty of room for 200 guests.

The Lab Kitchen
Last but not least is The Lab Kitchen, located in the northern Østerbro district of Copenhagen. This ultra-chic and innovative restaurant doubles as the perfect venue for a small wedding. It's all about high-quality cuisine here! The chefs are world-class and the food is top-notch. Let them wine and dine your guests with a gourmet experience they'll never forget. The space itself is clean, slick, and modern. Like other entries on this list, it spent many years as a warehouse complex before transitioning to a restaurant and event hub so be prepared for lots of right angles, white walls, stone floors, metal furnishings, and large factory window decor. Not too big, nor small, as its capacity sits right around 120 for dinner.

Copenhagen Wedding on a Budget: Creative Venue Alternatives
Not every Copenhagen wedding needs a traditional venue with a premium price tag. Here are imaginative alternatives that could make your celebration both meaningful and affordable.
Workplace Venues
Many Copenhagen offices have striking architectural features that transform beautifully for after-hours celebrations. Creative agencies, tech startups with open floor plans, or businesses with rooftop access can make surprisingly perfect wedding venues—often with minimal or no rental fee.
Family Homes & Gardens
Danish homes with their thoughtful design elements create naturally beautiful settings for intimate celebrations. Transform a family garden with fairy lights and seasonal flowers for that quintessential hygge atmosphere. Best for gatherings under 50 guests, with significant savings on venue costs and timeline flexibility!
Rooftop Celebrations
Copenhagen's varied rooftops offer spectacular city views that require minimal decoration. Several apartment buildings in Nørrebro and Østerbro have bookable community rooftop spaces at nominal costs.
Unique Rental Properties
Look for distinctive Airbnbs specifically permitting events, particularly in Frederiksberg or along the harbour in Islands Brygge. These spaces can beautifully combine accommodation and venue costs for multi-day celebrations or destination weddings.
Craft Beverage Spaces
Copenhagen's breweries and distilleries like Mikkeller locations, Copenhagen Distillery, and spaces in Refshaleøen, offer industrial-chic settings with built-in refreshments. These venues typically require lower decoration budgets thanks to their inherent character.
Community Spaces
Culture houses, community gardens, and Folkehuset venues throughout Copenhagen neighbourhoods offer affordable rates, often with equipment included. Osramhuset in Nørrebro has hosted numerous weddings with its flexible layout and community-friendly pricing.
Cultural Institutions
Museums, galleries and libraries often rent spaces at rates lower than dedicated wedding venues. Consider Den Sorte Diamant, smaller neighbourhood museums, or contemporary art spaces like those on Refshaleøen for built-in décor and cultural significance.
Industrial Finds
Former warehouses and factories, particularly in Refshaleøen, Kødbyen, and developing Nordhavn areas, provide blank-canvas venues perfect for personalisation. While requiring some investment in amenities, they typically cost significantly less than purpose-built venues.
On the Water
Celebrate on Copenhagen's waterways with chartered canal boats, historic wooden vessels from Nyhavn, or even harbour taxis for intimate ceremonies. Combine a brief water ceremony with a reception at a waterfront location like Islands Brygge for budget-friendly maritime magic.
If you just recently celebrated your wedding in Copenhagen and would love to share your experience, don’t hesitate to drop me a message. I would like to hear your story and add a new venue to the list :)
