    Marriage Proposal In Denmark

While Copenhagen is a fantastic place to propose, Denmark has plenty of other stunning locations that might be just what you’re looking for. In my ultimate guide to proposing in Copenhagen, I covered some of the best spots in the capital—but if you’re spending more time outside the city or simply want more options, this list is for you.

From breathtaking coastal cliffs to historic castles and serene countryside escapes, Denmark offers plenty of romantic backdrops for popping the question. Whether you want a grand, picture-perfect setting or something more intimate and off the beaten path, these five locations are among the best places to propose beyond Copenhagen.

    Let’s dive in.

    Camp Adventure

Located just an hour’s drive from Copenhagen, Camp Adventure is one of the closest and most unique places to propose outside the city. Nestled in the forests of South Zealand, it’s most convenient to reach by car, but you can also get there using public transport or by joining a guided tour.

Best for: Nature lovers, adventure seekers, and couples who love a breathtaking view.

The highlight? The Forest Tower, a 45-meter-high spiral walkway that offers panoramic views over rolling woodlands and, on clear days, all the way to Sweden. Imagine proposing at the top, surrounded by nature, with the entire landscape stretching out beneath you—it doesn’t get much more memorable than that.

    Price: 175 DKK (June – August: 195 DKK) / approx. $25 USD / €23 EUR
Address: Skovtårnsvej 1, 4683 Rønnede, Denmark

    Lousiana Museum of Modern Art

Perhaps the most famous museum in Denmark, Louisiana is more than just a world-class art museum—it’s a destination in itself. Located 35 km north of Copenhagen, it’s easy to reach by train and makes for a perfect day trip.

Best for: Art lovers, design enthusiasts, and couples seeking a unique Denmark proposal spot.

What I particularly love about Louisiana apart from the art are the peaceful green surroundings. The museum’s gardens overlook the Øresund coast, offering stunning sea views and a quiet escape from everyday life—one of my favourite places to slow down and take it all in.

Inside, one of the most magical experiences is Yayoi Kusama’s Gleaming Lights of the Souls. Stepping into this infinity room of mirrors and twinkling lights feels surreal, almost dreamlike—an unforgettable setting for a proposal.

    Price: 145 DKK / approx. $21 USD / €19 EUR
Address: Gl. Strandvej 13, 3050 Humlebæk, Denmark

    Frederiksborg Slot

Frederiksborg Castle is one of Denmark’s most breathtaking castles, combining royal history with a stunning natural setting. Located in Hillerød, about 40 km north of Copenhagen, it’s easy to reach by train and makes for a perfect day trip.

Best for: History lovers, fairytale romance, and couples looking for a classic Denmark proposal spot.

While the castle itself is impressive, what I love most are the manicured gardens, which have a distinct French-style elegance. With perfectly trimmed hedges, fountains, and symmetrical designs, the setting feels like something straight out of a royal love story. The gardens are free to visit, making them a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a beautiful yet low-key place to propose.

For the most magical experience, visit in summer, especially towards the evening, when the golden light makes the entire scene even more jaw-dropping. Whether by the grand fountains or along the lakeside pathways, it’s a place where every moment feels cinematic.

    Price: 115 DKK / approx. $17 USD / €16 EUR
Address: Frederiksborg Slot 10, 3400 Hillerød, Denmark

    Møns Klint

Møns Klint is one of Denmark’s most stunning natural wonders, with its towering white chalk cliffs rising dramatically above the Baltic Sea. Located on Møn Island, about 1.5 hours from Copenhagen, this spot is best reached by car, as public transport options are limited.

Best for: Nature lovers, adventurers, and couples looking for a scenic and secluded Denmark proposal.

The cliffs themselves are jaw-dropping, and there’s something incredibly romantic about standing at the edge, with the vast ocean stretching out before you. Møns Klint is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, so if you’re looking for privacy for your proposal, I recommend visiting early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

Aside from the cliffs, the surrounding forest trails and beaches offer a variety of beautiful spots to pop the question, making it a versatile and unforgettable location.

Price: free, the entry to the Møns Klint Visitor Centre costs 125 DKK / approx. $18 USD / €17 EUR
Address: Møns Klint, 4791 Borre, Denmark

    Skagen

Located on the far northern tip of Denmark, Skagen is a unique destination that offers a vast, breathtaking landscape unlike anywhere else in the country. If you’re considering the ultimate Denmark road trip, this is the place to go. It’s best accessed by car, but you can also fly into Billund or Aalborg airports, both of which are a few hours away by road.

Best for: Road trip lovers, adventure seekers, and couples looking for a “dramatic” Denmark proposal.

Skagen is known for its stunning coastal scenery, where golden sandy beaches meet the North Sea and the Baltic. The light in Skagen has attracted artists for centuries, and it’s easy to see why—whether you’re walking along the beach, watching the waves crash against the dunes, or enjoying the view from the iconic Skagen Lighthouse, the scenery is truly awe-inspiring.

With such an expansive area, you’ll find plenty of secluded spots to propose, whether it’s on the beach at Grenen, where the two seas meet, or amidst the wild beauty of the Skagen Odde Nature Reserve. It’s an unforgettable place for a memorable moment.

Price: Free; lighthouse access costs 85 DKK / approx. $12 USD / €11 EUR
    Address: Skagen, 9990 Skagen, Denmark
