Proposing During a Copenhagen Getaway
Planning a proposal during can feel overwhelming. I get it! But even more if you’re planning to propose during your vacation. Alvin got in touch because he needed a little help planning his secret proposal in Copenhagen. His idea? Popping the question in one of Copenhagen's architectural wonders, Grundtvigs Kirke. It was such a thoughtful choice, especially considering the darker days and unpredictable weather in late November. I was thrilled to dive in and help make his dream a reality! But first, I needed to ensure that everything would go off without a hitch, so I set out on a location scouting mission.
Finding the perfect proposal spot
Before the big proposal day, I set out on visiting Grundtvig’s Church. It wasn't just about finding the perfect angles for Alvin's photos, but also about soaking in the peaceful vibes and discovering the best times to catch a quiet moment amidst the church's daily hustle and bustle. I always strive to provide my couples with all the insider info they might need: whether it's knowing when the church is at its calmest or having a backup plan ready just in case. With Alvin, we also had the enjoyable task of selecting the bouquet, ensuring it was just right for Tatiana. The excitement was contagious — I couldn't wait for the big day to finally arrive!
Proposal in Grundtvigs Kirke
On the day of the proposal, Grundtvigs Kirke exuded a serene ambience, with only a handful of tourists wandering through its majestic halls. It truly felt like a hidden gem in the heart of Copenhagen, its architecture inspiring and reminiscent of a famous Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavik. Thankfully, there was no service scheduled for that day, sparing us the need to resort to our backup plan.
Photoshoot in Bispjeberg Cemetery
The proposal between T + A was incredibly emotional. Tatiana could barely hold back her tears, and witnessing the depth of their emotions was truly touching. After Alvin popped the question, I discreetly stepped back, allowing the couple to savour the moment in private. We then proceeded to capture a few tender moments inside the church, before starting a photo walk through the renowned Bispebjerg Cemetery. Now, you might wonder, a cemetery? But in Denmark, it's actually a cherished spot. During the summer, you'll often find people picnicking or simply basking in the sun. However, on this crisp autumn day, we practically had the place to ourselves. We wrapped up our photoshoot in one of the nearby vibrant streets, where I left the couple to enjoy Copenhagen and the newfound chapter in their lives.
