    What is Narrative Select?

    Narrative Select is AI-powered image culling tool for professional photographers. You can import thousands of images in a split of second and start image selection process immediately. Once all your selection process is over then you can send those images directly to your photo editing software, for example, Adobe Lightroom.

    How Much Does a Narrative Select Cost?

    Narrative Select offers both free and paid options: Narrative Select Free and Narrative Select Pro. In the free version, Narrative Select Free, you have access to several essential features:

    • Unlimited images and projects

    • Assess Image Focus

    • Crop Images

    • Export to Lightroom, Photoshop, and Capture One

    • Compare Images in Survey Mode

    However, the upgraded version, Narrative Select Pro, provides additional AI tools to make your culling process even faster and more efficient. With the Pro version, you can:

    How does Narrative Select Work?

    Using Narrative Select is very easy. You can simply drag and drop your images and let the program work its magic. Within seconds, your images are fully loaded, and the AI filters kick in, suggesting which images are “potential picks,” “unlikely picks,” and “undesirable picks.” You can customize these settings to fit your preferences on how images should be assessed.

    During the culling process, you can easily tag images (shortcut T) or reject them (shortcut X) to streamline your selection. Plus, you have the option to use the star and colour grading filters. It's all about how you, the photographer, choose to curate your best shots!

    nARRATIVE Select: hONEST oPINION

    I discovered Narrative Select after being a loyal user of Narrative Publish. At the time, I was using Photo Mechanic, a standard image-culling software among photographers. However, I was searching for something more advanced and AI-driven, so I decided to give Narrative Select a try.

    Transitioning from Photo Mechanic was easy since you can customize the interface to look quite similar. I only had to adjust to learning new shortcuts for tagging and rejecting images. I appreciate the feature that highlights which images are “desirable” and “undesirable.” However, I often find that the program still misses the mark — I frequently pick some of my favourite shots from the "undesirable" category. Another drawback is that it doesn’t always accurately distinguish between closed and open eyes, so I suggest always double-checking.

    Despite these issues, I found that my workflow sped up, which is the goal in my photography business — spend less time on things where AI could be utilised :)
